जानेमाने इतिहासकार बिपिन चन्द्र ने आज़ादी के इतिहास को लेकर एक प्रकल्प तैयार किया था , उस दौरान किये गए साक्षात्कार में यह जानकारी सामने आयी कि एक भी मुस्लिम स्वतंत्रता सेनानी संसद या विधानसभाओ में चुनकर नहीं जा पाया। अधिक खोजबीन करने पर पता चला कि जो मुसलमान आज़ादी के लिए JAIL गए वे अपने -अपने व्यवसायों में तो काफी आगे थे लेकिन उन्हें सामाजिक और राजनितिक स्वीकृति नहीं मिल सकी स्वीकृति मिली तो तीसरे दर्ज़े के मुस्लिम लीगी नेताओ को जिनकी किसी काम में लायकी न के बराबर थी। ऐसा क्यों हुआ ? गहराई से खोजबीन करने के बाद यह निष्कर्ष सामने आया कि आज़ादी कि लड़ाई लड़ने वाले मुसलमान तो जेल गए जबकि मुस्लिम लीग के नेता मुस्लिम आवाम में ज्यादा लोकप्रिय होने लगे। मौलाना आज़ाद जैसे नेताओ को "दिखावे का मुसलमान "बतलाकर उनका मजाक उड़ाया गया जबकि कट्टरपंथी मुसलमान मुस्लिमो का नेतृत्व हथियाने लगे।
आज़ादी और विभाजन के बाद भी यही कहानी दुहरायी गयी बहुत से मुसलमानो ने यही रहने का फैसला किया। आज़ादी के बाद मुस्लिम नेताओ में ऐसा वर्ग भी सामने आया जिसने दावा करना शुरू किया वह भी देश कि आज़ादी कि लड़ाई में जेल काट चूका है , बस इसी बात का फायदा उठा कर वे चुने जाने लगे विभाजन के कारण अपने आप को सुरक्षित महसूस कर रहे मुसलमानो का वोट हथियाने के लिए इन लीडरो ने कट्टरपंथ का रास्ता अपनाया। देश कि राजनितिक व्यवस्था ने भी मुस्लिमो का थोक वोट पाने के लिए इसी किस्म के मुस्लिम नेतृत्व को घास डालना शुरू किया। जो पहले सेकुलरिज्म का रास्ता अपनाये हुए थे उन्होंने भी कट्टर वाद का दामन थामा जिसका सबसे बड़ा मिसाल सलमान खुर्शीद है समय के अनुसार कट्टर पंती बन जाते है समय के अनुसार सेक्युलर का चोंगा पहन लेते है यह वही व्यक्ति है जो आरएसएस के विचारो से बहुत प्रभावित था ,जिसने मदर लैंड ,आरएसएस डेली जो अब नहीं छपती है जिसमे गोलवरकर का इंटरव्यू लिया था अगस्त २३ १९७२ जिसमे गोलवलकर ने कहा था
KHURSHEED -As long as personal laws do not pose any threat on unity, integrity and constitutional values, voice for progressive changes must emanate from the community itself. Apropos GOLWALKAR:"Nature abhors uniformity,which is the death - knell of nation .
